Description:
Sakai Takayuki is one of the most celebrated names among knife enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Established in Sakai (Osaka), the brand carries more than 600 years of knife-making tradition. Production began in the 16th century, initially focused on knives for cutting and trimming tobacco leaves in the Sakai region. One of the most famous blacksmiths associated with the brand is Itsuo Doi, grandson of the legendary Keijiro Doi.
The Kasumitogi Series is a product line designed to cater not only to beginners but also to professional chefs at an affordable price point. Each knife is hand-forged, using Yasuki Shirogami #3 (White Paper Steel) as the core, clad with softer steel through the traditional Kasumi method. Shirogami steel offers exceptional sharpness, edge retention, and ease of sharpening.
The handle is crafted from Japanese Magnolia Wood (Hinoki) in a traditional U-shape, with a water buffalo horn ferrule for added strength and elegance. This combination provides a secure and comfortable grip, even during prolonged use.
