Description:
Sakai Takayuki is one of the most renowned names among knife collectors and culinary professionals. Based in Sakai (Osaka), the brand carries a history of knife-making spanning more than 600 years. Production began in the 16th century, originally crafting knives for cutting and trimming tobacco in Sakai. Among its legendary craftsmen is Itsuo Doi, grandson of the famous blacksmith Keijiro Doi.
The Sujihiki, by definition, is a “meat slicer.” It is specifically designed to slice meat effortlessly in one clean motion. With its thin and long blade profile, the Sujihiki minimizes friction and preserves the integrity of the cut, ensuring smooth, precise slices every time.
The handle is made from Spanish Mahogany Pakkawood, known for its smooth feel and attractive grain. Infused with resin/epoxy, it is exceptionally durable, moisture-resistant, and resistant to warping—making it ideal for both professional and home kitchens.
