Description
MAC Corporation – Heritage & Philosophy
Founded in 1965 by Mr. Tasuo Kobayashi, MAC Corporation was born from a personal experience that reshaped the future of kitchen knives.
While studying in Chicago, Mr. Kobayashi worked part-time as a chef in a local restaurant. The European-style knives used in the kitchen were typically heavy, thick, and quick to dull.
One day, while cutting, his knife slipped from his hand, struck the kitchen floor point-first, and nearly pierced his foot.
Years later, after returning to Japan, Mr. Kobayashi established MAC Corporation with a design philosophy:
“Knives that are sharper, safer, more precise, comfortable, and exceptionally durable.”
Every MAC knife is handcrafted by master blacksmiths in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, a region world-renowned for traditional blade-making.
MAC’s reputation for precision, sharpness, control, and comfort has made it a trusted favorite among professional chefs around the globe.
