The company began producing knives in the 16th century, originally crafting blades used for cutting and trimming tobacco in the Sakai region. One of Sakai Takayuki’s most renowned blacksmiths, Itsuo Doi, is the grandson of legendary Japanese bladesmith Keijiro Doi.
