Production of knives began in the 16th century, originally crafted for cutting and trimming tobacco in the Sakai region.

One of Sakai Takayuki’s most renowned blacksmiths, Itsuo Doi, is the grandson of Keijiro Doi — one of Japan’s most celebrated master knife makers — continuing the family’s legacy of exceptional craftsmanship.
