Japanese Knife SAKAI TAKAYUKI 45 Layer Damascus AUS-10 WA Gyuto 180mm
Description
Sakai Takayuki – Over 600 Years of Knife-Making Excellence
Sakai Takayuki is one of the most celebrated names among knife enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Established in Sakai (Osaka), the brand carries over six centuries of knife-making tradition. Production began in the 16th century, initially focused on crafting blades for cutting and trimming tobacco in the Sakai region.
One of Sakai Takayuki’s most renowned blacksmiths, Itsuo Doi, is the grandson of Keijiro Doi — a legendary Japanese master craftsman — continuing a family legacy of exceptional skill and precision.
Sakai Takayuki WA Gyuto 180 mm – Model 7254
This WA Gyuto features an elegant octagonal Magnolia wood handle that offers a natural, ergonomic grip. The blade is crafted from 45 layers of Damascus steel, forged to create a beautiful wave-like pattern that encases a high-performance AUS-10 steel core. The AUS-10 core offers excellent hardness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.
The blade is finished with a Tsuchime (hammered) texture, resembling water droplets. Beyond its striking appearance, the hammered finish helps reduce food sticking to the blade, improving cutting efficiency.
